  • INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

    VIENNA, 9 March 2015 – The Director General spoke during UNIDO’s special meeting dedicated to the International Women’s Day to recognize and celebrate the achievements of women. Special guests included Olga Algayerova, Permanent Representative of Slovakia to UNIDO and Gloria del Carmen Young Chizmar, Permanent Representative of Panama to UNIDO.

  • BAHRAIN – COURTESY CALL

    VIENNA, 30 September 2014 – Ebrahim Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of UNIDO Arab International Center for Entrepreneurship and Investment and former Minister of Housing of Bahrain, paid a courtesy call to the Director General.

  • NICARAGUA – MEETING

    VIENNA, 29 September 2014 – Director General Li met Paul Oquist Kelley, Minister and Private Secretary of the Citizen’s Power for National Policies of Nicaragua.

  • SWITZERLAND – SIGNING CEREMONY

    VIENNA, 29 September 2014 – Director General LI Yong signed a project titled “Colombia – Cosmetic Sector Quality Programme” with Switzerland.

  • EXTERNAL AUDITOR – COURTESY CALL

    VIENNA, 16 September 2014 – Michael Schrenk, Audit Director of the German Supreme Audit Institute (Bundesrechnungshof), paid a courtesy call to UNIDO’s Director General LI Yong.

  • IRELAND – CREDENTIALS

    VIENNA, 16 September 2014 – Mary Whelan, Permanent Representative of Ireland to UNIDO, met the Director General to present her credentials. After an update on the implementation of UNIDO’s new ISID mandate, the Director General underlined the importance of industrialization for all countries as a tool to generate employment and ultimately alleviate poverty, as well as the need for a green and sustainable industry to meet the global challenges of climate change.

  • BURUNDI – CREDENTIALS

    VIENNA, 16 September 2014 – The Director General received the credentials of Edouard Bizimana, Permanent Representative of Burundi to UNIDO. He presented an overview of the results achieved with regard to ISID and how it was integrated into one of the new SDGs. With regard to the ISID Forums on partnerships, the Director General explained that two pilot countries had been identified in Africa, Ethiopia and Senegal, to develop a new industrial strategy.

  • BELGIUM – CREDENTIALS

    VIENNA, 16 September 2014 – Willem Van de Voorde, Permanent Representative of Belgium to UNIDO, presented his credentials to the Director General. After welcoming him to the UNIDO family, the Director General informed the new Ambassador about the progress made in promoting ISID both at UNIDO and in New York where it has now been incorporated into one of the new 17 SDGs.

  • BURKINA FASO – FAREWELL

    VIENNA, 27 August 2014 – Ambassador Paul Robert Tiendrebeogo, Permanent Representative of Burkina Faso to UNIDO, paid his farewell visit to the Director General. He thanked the Director General for the good cooperation and confirmed his Government’s readiness to continue working with UNIDO in the future. Tiendrebeogo also assured the Director General of his intention to continue cooperating with UNIDO in his new function as Representative of the Francophonie in New York.

  • CONGO – CREDENTIALS

    VIENNA, 27 August 2014 – Jacques Yvon Ndolou, Permanent Representative of Congo, presented his credentials to the Director General. Thanking him and his Government for their good cooperation with UNIDO, the Director General highlighted the new country programme for Congo UNIDO was developing. He also briefed Ambassador Ndolou on the second ISID Forum on partnerships in November, and invited the Government of Congo to send a delegation to this important event.

  • RUSSIAN FEDERATION – MEETING

    VIENNA, 26 August 2014 – Director General Li met with N.R.Inamov, Director of Department for International Cooperation in Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

  • REEEP – MEETING

    VIENNA, 25 August 2014 – Director General LI Yong held a meeting with Martin Miller, Director General of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP).

  • LEAGUE OF ARAB STATES – FAREWELL

    VIENNA, 21 August 2014 – Ramzy Ezzeldin Ramzy, Head of Mission of the League of Arab States to UNIDO, paid a farewell visit to Director General LI Yong. He commended the Director General for his leadership and wished him and UNIDO a successful implementation of ISID. Li thanked him for his dedication and contribution to UNIDO during his time in Vienna, and underlined the importance of the Arab region in industrialization and his intention to reinforce UNIDO’s cooperation with them.

  • LAO PEOPLE’S DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC – CREDENTIALS

    VIENNA, 21 August 2014 – Phoukhao Phommavongsa, Permanent Representative of Lao’s People Democratic Republic, presented his credentials to the Director General. After welcoming the new Ambassador, Li briefed him on the implementation of the ISID mandate, UNIDO’s contribution to the post-2015 process as well as the ISID Forums organized by UNIDO this year. The DG expressed the hope that the Lao’s People Democratic Republic would be represented at the upcoming second Forum in November 2014.
